The III Latin American and Caribbean Forum on housing and habitat: Housing in the center of the New Urban Agenda, to be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from June 12 to 14, 2018, will have the participation of prestigious experts in the development of human settlements in Latin America and the Caribbean.

For example, Mario Durán-Ortiz, a Costa Rican civil engineer, specialist in transportation planning and engineering, will be sharing his experiences in urban development, transportation planning and economics, urban mobility, urban development oriented to public transportation, road safety, traffic engineering. , transport policies and adoption of clean fuels and vehicles.

Andrés G. Blanco, senior specialist in Urban Development and Housing at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), will refer to the IDB's Cities LAB, a laboratory to support urban innovation and experimentation in the region. Recently, Blanco has also published books on the rental housing market in Latin America and the Caribbean and on the experience of capturing capital gains in the region.

On the other hand, Michael G. Donovan - who oversees several IDB programs related to housing and urban development operations, including neighborhood improvement - will address issues such as climate change in coastal cities, land governance in Latin America and the Caribbean and the state of social housing in Caribbean countries.

Sérgio de Sá Freitas, a civil engineer who worked as housing secretary and president of the Municipal Council for Social Interest Housing (CMHIS) in Vitória, Brazil, will present his experiences in this field. During his tenure, this Secretariat received 4 awards, including the one for Best Practices in Local Management from CAIXA.
