Inspiring practices open-call

  “Housing at the center of the New Urban Agenda”
 
at the III Latin American and Caribbean Forum on housing and habitat

Do you have an inspiring project related to the theme of housing? Have you participated in the execution of good practices to improve the habitat? If so, we have a space for your project to be recognized!

Our Open-Call "Housing at the center of the New Urban Agenda" is an opportunity for projects that promote housing and adequate habitat as an engine of sustainable urban development in Latin America and the Caribbean, framed in the New Urban Agenda. The selected projects will be recognized during the III Forum in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in June 2018.

Those interested can participate through the online questionnaire that allows the description of the projects. Requirement: that the project contribute to the development of a sustainable urban habitat and to the access of people living in poverty to housing and the city.

The Process

An internal committee and, subsequently, a technical/external committee will select the twenty-five (25) most inspiring practices in the Latin American and Caribbean region, that demonstrate leadership in the implementation of the principles and guidelines of the housing at the center of the New Urban Agenda.

Who can participate?

Any organization, community, company, entity or individual (supported by an organization) of the public, private, academic, multilateral or civil society sectors with a project that includes habitat and sustainable urban development.

Why participate?

  • To allow your practice to be recognized regionally as inspiring.

  • To support housing at the center of the New Urban Agenda.

  • To receive a scholarship and be able to participate in the Housing and Habitat Forum in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (June 2018), as well as in the debates of the event.

  • To be part of an exposition, an exhibition and the UHPH database.

  1. Policies, regulatory frameworks, and institutional arrangements for the Strategic Housing Agenda (NAU and ODS11)

  2. Mitigation, adaptation and resilience of habitat in the face of climate change and disasters.

  3. Housing, access to land and urban regeneration

  4. Integration of informal settlements

  5. Innovative mechanisms for financing and access to housing solutions

  6. Innovations or technological developments for housing and the sustainable and inclusive city

  7. Housing as a focus of inclusion and economic development

Register online before February 1st

This is the last step for the registration of practices! Now it is time to enter the online questionnaire and fill in determined spaces. 

 

Selection process

1. Internal selection

After the closing date, the internal technical committee, organizer of the open-call, will pre-select according to the criteria established in the open-call rules.

2. Request for documentation

Additional information will be requested to those pre-selected in Phase 1, for a more detailed review by the external committee. This information will be requested in mid-February 2018.

3. External selection

In February, pre-selected projects will be sent to the external committee for the selection of the 10 best and 15 good inspiring practices.

4. Announcement of the 25 inspiring practices

In March 2018 will be the announcement of the 10 best and the 15 inspiring good practices that will be invited to participate in the Forum in Santo Domingo, June 12th-14th, 2018.
